Response to COVID-19
Beginning Friday, February 12 we will reopen indoor dining at 25% limited capacity. Sidewalk cafe will still be available for those wishing to sit outside. We kindly ask that you limit your visit to 90 minutes for both options.
We are taking reservations by phone only. Call from 12pm - 9pm if you would like to reserve a table, 212-877-2267. We are not offering online reservations at this time.
We want to assure you during these trying times that we’re taking extra precautions, as guided by the CDC, NYC Department of Health, and New York State Governor’s Office to ensure your well-being. We are monitoring updates closely and will keep you updated as our situation changes.
You can always order delivery on Seamless, Grubhub, here on our website (where you’ll receive a 10% discount), or by calling in.
The health and safety of our community is our greatest concern. Bella Luna has been an Upper West Side staple for over 30 years and we will continue serving you through anything and everything that’s put in our path.

FAQ about dining out during COVID:
Do I need to make a reservation?
No, we are accepting walk-ins and reservations. We strongly encourage reservations, especially on Friday and Saturday. Indoor dining is not permitted.
Do you have a party maximum?
We can seat 6-8 people on a case by case basis. The state mandates no more than 10 guests for one party. Call ahead if you have a large group, 212-877-2267
Can I request a specific table?
We always do our best to get you the table you want however it is becoming increasingly difficult to fulfill requests for specific tables because of our seating limitations. Please note that reservations always get the "preferred" tables over walk-ins.
Do you have heat lamps outside?
Yes, we do. But it's cold out and it's still a good idea to wear extra layers if you plan to dine outdoors. You can also BYOC (bring your own cushion)
What can I expect while dining at Bella Luna in a pandemic?
Here are the precautions we have taken:
We perform daily temperature checks and health screenings for all staff.
Staff is required to wear masks at all times and to wash hands frequently.
Guests must wear a mask when not seated (e.g. walking to/from the table, walking to/from the restroom)
We offer hand sanitizer throughout the restaurant should you need it.
We have updated our air filtration system with UV light and MERV-13 filters. These two filters used in conjunction eliminate air pollutants, bacteria, mold, and viruses (including COVID-19)
We have placed plexiglass barriers between tables for added protection.
Are there any special procedures for dining indoors?
Yes. The state has issued mandatory guidelines for restaurants during this time. We are doing everything we can to follow the state's guidance:
One person from each party must sign in on behalf of the table, providing the full name, address, and phone number for use in contact tracing efforts.
All indoor diners are required to complete a temperature check before being seated. We take temperatures from the forehead or wrist with a contactless infrared thermometer. Any individual with a temperature greater than 100°F will not be permitted to enter.
There is no seating at the bar.
What's this "COVID Recovery Charge" on my bill?
In October 2020 the city passed a bill that allows local restaurants to add a surcharge to dine-in checks. You'll see a "C19 Recovery" charge on your bill when dining in. It's a 10% surcharge to help restaurants survive under limited capacity mandates, and basically it's there to make sure we're here when this terrible pandemic is all over. It should not be mistaken for a tip for your server, this surcharge goes directly to the restaurant. Please tip your server as you normally would!
